Before registering your horses, please be sure to read through all of our breed requirements so that application processes take quicker!
There are no specific breed requirements to be eligible for the Show Jumping Association. However there are other physical requirements that a horse must meet in order to qualify.
• Horse must be over the age of 4. (Aging by January 1st)
• Horse must meet at minimum 14.2hh.
• Horse must be competing in classes of at least 1.0m/3’2”
• Horses must have a current Health Certificate & be seen by the farrier.
• Junior riders under the age of 18 may NOT compete with stallions.

• All competitions and/or contests noted SJA Show are reserved only to SJA members.
• Members can accumulate points earned at competition to receive a year end award and prize money. 3 categories which include: Individual Rider, Horsed & Rider Combo, Individual JR. Rider
• Certificate of registration available for horse and rider. All registrations are life long. Registered horse may be sold and remain its membership.
• SJA competitions consist of timed and optimum timed events. Many of which include jump-offs, and on occasion Puissance events at high level competitions.
• SJA does NOT offer events judged on riding, form or technique. Such as hunter or equitation classes.
Showing Requirements
TACK REQUIREMENTS:
• Horses must fully tacked in competitions. Bridle, Saddle, Saddle pad must be present.
• Horses may be bitless. Rollkurs strictly prohibited.
• Protective boots optional but recommended.
• Breastplates and martingales are optional.
• Braiding optional.
RIDER APPAREL REQUIREMENTS:
• ALL RIDERS MUST WEAR HEAD PROTECTION WITH CHIN STRAP.
• Riders must wear proper boots specifically for riding.
• Beige/White Breeches only.
• Hunt Coats required.
• Junior riders may wear collared shirts including Polos.
Judging
• Since we cannot obviously time your rounds, scores will be based on quality of photos submitted. Editing is recommended but not necessary.
• Points will be awarded as such; 1st: +10pts, 2nd: +7pts, 3rd: +5pts, 4th: +4pts, 5th: +3pts, 6th: +2pts
• Points will be awarded to Horse & Rider Combos if they have prior competition history as a pair in the database. A single rider may only use ONE horse in the Horse & Rider Combo Point system.
• If a rider competes on multiple horses, points awarded will go to Individual Horse & Individual Rider.
